The Northern® 4000 series pump can also be adapted to a vertical configuration. This design was a result of the power generation industry’s need to effectively meter molten sulfur. The internal steam jacketing of the unit allows for critical temperature control.
There are two major industries that have benefited from the vertical pump design. The first is pipeline companies that have been able to dramatically simplify sump injection systems. The second is coal fired power plants that are able to submerge our unit into molten sulfur tanks and eliminate the need for additional heat jacketing. This allows our customers to operate a much safer and more defendable system.
In many cases, our ability to generate 2000 Pounds per inch squared(PSI) discharge pressure eliminates the expense associated with multiple pumps and monitoring equipment.
